I’m Shih-Yu Pan, a young farmer from Guoxing Township, Nantou, and many people know me as the “Rose Princess.”
Eighteen years ago, my parents purchased a farm in Guoxing. Starting with natural farming and organic cultivation, they planted fruit trees, raised bees, and stayed close to the land through every changing season.
I once never imagined that I would return home to farm. But after coming back to the farm, I learned beekeeping from my father and worked alongside my mother in the fields. Little by little, I came to understand that agriculture is more than simply growing crops—it is the accumulation of time, dedication, and responsibility.
Starting with a single rose, I began cultivating organic, food-grade roses, and expanded their possibilities into floral tea, rose jam, and rose hydrosol.
Along the way, the most precious moments have been hearing the little ones I call my “Little Forests” say,
“I still remember your roses.”
🌱 What I want to do is not simply to run a successful farm. I also hope to help more people discover and appreciate the land of Guoxing—and to believe that young people can stay in their hometowns and still create a future of their own.
