【Nantou NEXT⁺ Lab Series Event 2: Participatory Creation Gathering】
Diverse interactive learning transforms youth capacity for creation—event was a great success!!! Event highlights
Together, we stepped into real-world cases of regional revitalization. Starting from stories and moving into experiential games, participants didn't just "hear" about revitalization concepts—they experienced how to "do" it!
Case 1|Nantou County Local Industry Cluster Development Association
Chairperson #Chu, Yi-chen shared how the association began by revitalizing vacant military dependents' housing, connecting markets, travel experiences, and handicraft workshops to breathe new life into the military village site at Zhongxing New Village. Chu, Yi-chen reminded participants that by observing the site and understanding residents' needs, and by deploying experience design and brand strategy, it's possible to establish a micro-economic cycle rooted in place.
Case 2|Nantou Theater
Brand Director #Tsai, Chieh-feng spoke about how the old theater, though once in decline, was transformed into a cultural and artistic hub loved by young people through the introduction of performances and film screenings. He emphasized that brand management must begin with local stories in order to truly resonate with people's hearts. Through these case studies, participants gained a deeper understanding of how to integrate brand thinking into regional revitalization and sparked diverse visions for their own brand positioning.
Hands-on Experience|Creation Scenario Interactive Game
Finally, everyone took on the role of "local detectives," developing observational skills through mission-based exploration, then using card games to translate local features into concrete brand prototypes. The room buzzed with laughter and lively discussion. Through the game, participants experienced the real difficulties and dilemmas faced in reginal revitalization. From team communication and coordination to seeking collaboration with others, they gained deeper insight into the various challenges local practitioners face and the adaptive thinking required for different roles. Despite encountering several setbacks during the game, through collective effort, the participants successfully completed the reginal revitalization mission!
The two instructors' wealth of experience, paired with their relaxed and humorous delivery, guided participants to open their minds and engage in meaningful dialogue between youth and place. After the event, many young participants lingered at the venue, exchanging ideas and getting to know one another—adding even more significance to the gathering!✨
The mutual support and encouragement among young people will serve as the best fuel for moving forward together. We look forward to everyone taking the inspiration from this event back to their hometowns, putting it into action, and becoming the most empowered returning youth!
